Owned and run by qualified piano technician Gavin Crooks, Ashfield Piano Services was first established in 2008. Gavin, who learned the trade at the renowned Newark College course, has since been offering a piano tuning, servicing and rebuilding service which focuses primarily on the Cardiff area.

In 2011, Gavin received the Val Addis Award for his outstanding work within the piano industry, awarded by the Piano Tuners Association at the annual meeting in Worksop.

In 2012, Gavin helped to form Crown Pianos, a company which is still operating in Nottinghamshire.

In 2020, Gavin became the head piano technician for the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, as well as in-house technician for the BBC NOW. The business relocated to Cardiff, where it also provides the tuning service for the WNO, and St. David's Hall in the city centre.
